Members of GUCC attended a vigil outside of the Edna Mahan women’s prison in Clinton Township on Saturday, March 27th. Attendees listened to former inmates tell their stories of the physical and emotional abuse they had to endure while incarcerated at Edna Mahan. No human being should ever have to endure such inhuman treatment. Thank you Maggie D’Aversa for your work on this cause, and for sharing details of the vigil with GUCC members.
Standing Up for Love, Inclusion and Justice
Once again, GUCC members joined the Alexandria Presbyterian church and others to send a message of welcome and inclusion to people of color in Hunterdon County. The group from area churches, organized by volunteers from Alexandria Presbyterian, meets every Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon. GUCC has committed to particpate the last Saturday of every month, but all are welcome on any given Saturday.
America's Grow-A-Row Gleaning Program
GUCC’s Jack Johnson, among other GUCC members, continues to participate in America’s Grow-A-Row’s produce gleaning program, picking up produce from area supermarkets and delivering it to local food pantries. Volunteers from Grace, recruited by Bill Taylor, were active in this program throughout the pandemic.
GUCC Joined Alexandria First Presbyterian and Others for a Vigil in Milford
Hello All,
We had a great turnout in Milford on Saturday, February 27th.
I received an email of thanks from Marie, the organizer of the event. She told me we doubled their regular gathering!
Thank you for your commitment to justice.
As has been mentioned, we plan on joining the group in Milford once per month, at this point the last Saturday of each month.
Of course, as they gather every Saturday, anyone is welcome to join on their own.
Pictures attached,
