Grace UCC was happy to host the very-first annual Coat Drive, organized by Hunterdon Hispanos over fifteen years ago. This event has been one we’ve supported and/or participated in ever since. Now, the baton has been passed to our friends at the Flemington Salvation Army Corps.

Coat Drive Information:

Please make sure that all donations are made up of new and gently used coats. We are asking that your church, company, or organization shares the Coat Drive information and collects the coats over the next few weeks, prior to the distribution event. Please feel free to print and put up the attached flyers to let your employees and colleagues know about the coat drive. Collection times are during the week of November 14th and the community distribution event will be held on Wednesday, November 30th. If you cannot deliver your coats to The Salvation Army during the times provided, please reach out to use as soon as possible to schedule a pick-up of the coats.

Coat drop-off location:

40 East Main Street

Flemington, NJ 08822

Please note: Do not use the donation bin located in the parking lot for the coat drive! This is a separate donation bin, and anything placed inside will not be used for the Coat Distribution this year. Thank you.

Coat drop-off dates:

Monday, November 14th between 5:00-7:00pm

Tuesday, November 15th between 9:00-12:00pm

Wednesday, November 16th between 9:00-12:00pm

Call to Action! Planning Board Meeting October 25th @ 7:00 pm

The Family Promise Advocacy for approval of The Promise Center continues.

Next week a Flemington Planning Board meeting will be held and Family Promise requesting people to attend physically in support.

When: October 25 @ 7pm EST
Where: Stangl Factory located at 4 Stangl Road (otherwise known as 12 Mine Street)

You will not have the opportunity to speak as the formal public hearing has closed. While the public can not participate— the number of folks attending DOES influence the Board’s discussion and decision. If only the neighbors protesting show up at the Board Meeting it makes it easier to “forget” about the public members who were there in support of the application.

Those coming should wear white shirts, and we will pass out our stickers, so our positions are silent but visible.

The Board will discuss issues related to the application among themselves. Then if they are moving to approve they will identify any conditions that they will place on Family Promise as part of the resolution of approval.

Calling all artists! Climate Hope Cards Art Contest

We find ourselves in the midst of ongoing climate and environmental justice crises. The future sometimes seems uncertain and even frightening. Yet as people of faith, we are called to heed prophetic voices and fight for a livable planet.

It is in action that hope is found. As the Israelites confronted the challenges of their time, the prophet Jeremiah passed along God’s message: Your labor is not in vain. There is hope for your future. (Jeremiah 31:17) That's why we are calling all UCC children and youth: Draw or paint about climate hope, environmental justice, or protecting the Earth. Sunday school class and youth group participation encouraged. Winners will be selected in November!
