What is Relay For Life?
Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature activity. It offers everyone in a community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer. Teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Relays are an overnight event, up to 24 hours in length.
Relay For Life is a life-changing event that brings together more than 3.5 million people to:
- Celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer. The strength of survivors inspires others to continue to fight.
- Remember loved ones lost to the disease. At Relay, people who have walked alongside people battling cancer can grieve and find healing.
- Fight Back. We Relay because we have been touched by cancer and desperately want to put an end to the disease.
2008 (June 13 & 14) Relay for Life event:
- 31 teams and 265 participants at Relay.
- Over $100k raised...
- Grace was among the top ten fundraising teams.
- We (Grace UCC) raised over $2,500.00 YEAH!

Grace UCC joined the Relay for Life event on June 19, 2009...thanks to Alice (our team captain) and all who supported this event...a great cause...and we raised close to 3,000.00...in addition to those shown below, Bill, Vassie and Mira were also a part of the walk- a big thank you to all!

Relay for Life of Greater Hunterdon is organizing for 2011. The dates are 6/24 -- 6/25 at Health Quest, which I think is a good venue.
There is a kick-off event at Hampton Inn Flemington, 2/26, 6:30 -- 7:30 pm with complimentary dessert. RSVP required (973) 285-8029. The invitation says:
Relay brings people together from all walks of life with the common goal of eliminating cancer.
Relay offers something for everyone--from the newly diagnosed, to caregivers and friends, to long-term survivors.
No matter who you are, there is a place for you at Relay for Life.
