THE PASTORS:
(Rev.) Daniel J. Lundquist: Dan received his BA (Phi Beta Kappa) in History and Religion from Hamline University in 1985. He graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree in 1989. During his seminary years, he worked in numerous halfway houses, was a chaplain in Trenton State Prison and developed a spirituality group on “Original Blessing”. Following his ordination in the United Church of Christ in 2000, Dan served as Interim Minister in two churches: Rutherford Congregational Church (Rutherford, NJ) and the Community Church of Cedar Grove (Cedar Grove, NJ). Recently, he was one of the facilitators for the Lilly Foundation and Princeton Seminary’s project on “Sabbath Renewal”.
Following seminary, Dan obtained his MSW (Master of Social Work) degree from Rutgers Graduate School of Social Work in 1990 and then his LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) credential in 1994. He has held numerous mental health positions: mental health specialist and mental health clinician on the psychiatric inpatient and emergency services units respectively at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ -University Behavioral Healthcare (UMDNJ-UBHC-Piscataway, NJ). He developed the Family Guidance Center’s intensive outpatient drug and alcohol program (Hamilton, NJ) for both the adult and adolescent populations, along with forming groups for psychiatric medication patients, ACOA (Adult Children of Alcoholics) and men’s support. He formed drug education programs with community organizers in the inner city of Trenton along with programming parenting classes with DYFS. He has made presentations to various organizations, including “Spirituality and Parenting” classes to areas churches, “the DSM” and the “Meaning of Help” to CONTACT of Mercer County, “Parenting and Peers” to the area YWCA, “Clergy Boundaries” to various Presbyterian Presbytery functions, along with speaking on various topics at UCC Association meetings. For three years he was the chairperson for the New Jersey Association's (NJA) Church and Ministry Commission. He recently served on the Religion Ad Hoc committee for the Hopewell School System. Since 1994, he has maintained a private psychotherapy practice in the area.
Dan is married to Mary Kate. They live with their children in Hopewell.
(Rev.) Susan B. Goodwin: Sue received her BA in Political Science from the University of Delaware (1981) and her Master’s Degree in Political Science with an emphasis on Public Policy from the Eagleton Institute at Rutgers University (1991) where she was an Eagleton Fellow. She received her Divinity Degree (Summa Cum Laude) from Drew University in 2004. Sue has worked in the field of politics, public policy, and public relations/advertising.
Prior to attending Seminary, Sue was a two-term elder in her church located in Clinton, NJ. There she taught Adult Education, Children’s Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, served as Chair of the Nominating Committee and was a lay worship leader. She has lived in Hunterdon County for over twenty years and has been involved in numerous civic organizations in leadership capacities (Including: Hunterdon County Planning Board, Carpe Diem-a women’s Business Association—, YM/YWCA, Women’s Crisis Services, Hunterdon Chamber of Commerce)
While in Seminary Sue had one year of field experience in an urban church (Plainfield, NJ) and a second year working in a small suburban church (Warren, NJ). Sue received three awards upon graduating from Drew Theological School; one for academic excellence and creativity in feminist scholarship, one for community building and a third for pastoral leadership.
Sue and her husband Bill have three children and live in Clinton Township.
